This music video was in the process of being produced when the director realized that one of the practical effects did not turn out as planned. The vision was to have many doves flying out of the vehicle, but on shoot day the doves were limited, they did not fit the framing as planned and in addition, the dove handlers dove box and feet were visible under the car.

The task was to place additional doves in the shot and to remove the dove handler's body parts which were exposed below the vehicle.

Behind the Scenes

Storyboards were produced to show a few options for concepts that tell the client story.

Styleframes were used to explore brand elements to drive the Motion Graphics.

An animatic was produced to determin timing and pacing.

Initially, a 3D approach was a potential solution,  but given that the turnaround had to be as quick as possible, stock footage manipulation was the way to go. A few flying doves were isolated to fly on a loop in space.

The doves were duplicated and keyframed in space in order to achieve a natural look.

A little process video shows the basics of a Visual Effects shot in the making. What looks like barely the correct asset, ends up the perfect footage for the job when it comes to compositing.

The legs and the box from the dove handler needed to be removed from under the vehicle in the shot as well. Other parts of the curb were used along with some additional tracking to achieve the result.
